Roasted, nutty, nutty-creamy, bitter, sweet, fruity, minty and I could continue. The musician Moby knows how to spoil people with selective taste buds. He co-owns the café Teany that specializes in loose-leaf tea, ice tea and healthy vegetarian food.

I remember when it opened six years ego, back then Manhattans Lower East side was still the up-and-coming neighbourhood, the crowd was young and hip, and to fit in you really needed to look like you just stumbled out of bed. The only time I actually felt I could pull off the scruffy lower east side attitude off, was the time I had a terrible cold and kept scarf and hat on while gobbling down hot tomato soup.

Things have changed a bit and the contemporary very modern shiny Hotel on Rivington stands out as a commercial proof.

Teany’s to go, where I used to stock up on bottled iced tea, has shut down, but at Teany’s they still take pride in serving vegan turkey club with champagne raspbellini (at Teanys the turkey is a meat substitute with a wheat gluten base) and chocolate cheesecake.

I have never actually met Moby in person at Teany.
